Subaru is an automobile manufacturer from Japan. The name of the company is also the Japanese name of the “Seven Sisters” star cluster. That particular cluster has 6 prominent stars which is why the company logo also has 6 stars. (Tradition says one “sister” is always invisible). Subaru was founded in 1953. They have factories in multiple locations worldwide including various Asian locations, Canada, the United Kingdom and even here in the USA.
Subaru has no consumer subsidiaries (all models have the name Subaru), but their racing division is Subaru Technica International (STI). For consumer vehicles Subaru has historically been known to partner with other companies on certain developments, including Isuzu, Nissan and Toyota.
Two Subaru models are currently known to have the best resale value — the Subaru Impreza and the Subaru Legacy. Subaru’s marketing often targets audiences that appreciate their signature drivetrain with available all-wheel drive or affordable sports cars (WRX STI).
Subaru Vehicles Serviced By Crawford’s Auto Repair
Subaru has a simple lineup consisting of four SUVs, three sedans, two hatchbacks, and one coupe. (If you’re lucky they might throw in a partridge in a pear tree) (The Levorg hatchback is not sold in North America, we just included it to make the pear tree joke). More than one model is built off the same engine and drivetrain, it’s just a matter of whether they put a sedan, hatchback or “SUV” on top of it.
Subaru refers to their hatchback models as “5 Doors”. One could debate whether their SUVs should be called “SUVs” since they are actually crossovers. The difference is that crossovers are built on a car chassis or frame and SUVs are generally built on a truck chassis. Also, Subaru’s drivetrain has more of an all-wheel drive layout than a 4-wheel drive layout which is more suggestive of crossovers than SUVs. The most SUV-like vehicle is the Ascent, which is the largest of the four models.
Subaru models are not built for heavy duty and rough off-roading, but they can be used for fun outdoor activities or light off-roading. More importantly they make some strong arguments that their full-time all-wheel drive is actually safer for road driving because you have the benefit of traction from all 4 wheels all the same time. This is much safer than the driver having to manually switch from 2-wheel drive in the split second that might be required to avoid an accident.

All maintenance services are performed according Subaru’s recommendations. It’s common for vehicle manufacturers to recommend a “standard” and a “severe” maintenance schedule. Here in the hot AZ weather and with the frequent stop-and-go traffic that we experience in the Chandler-Gilbert area, we generally lean towards the severe maintenance schedule to keep your vehicle running smoothly and to catch any needed repairs before they become more severe. Subaru Hybrid Services (Crosstrek Hybrid Repairs)
The Subaru Crosstrek is available as a hybrid. In many respects a hybrid vehicle is the same as a regular-gasoline vehicle. They just use an alternative power to supplement the power generated by the engine. Hybrid vehicles have high power battery systems which are recharged by the engine when it’s running and partially charged from the brakes. Crawford’s Auto Repair can service hybrid vehicles.
